Hark! The Herald Angel sing! ist ein typisch englisches Weihnachtslied. Es wurde 1739 von Charles Wesley geschrieben. Charles Wesley war der Bruder von John Wesley, dem Gründer der Methodistischen Kirche. Er schrieb zuerst eine sehr langsame Musik dazu, die heute fast nicht mehr bekannt ist.
Viel bekannter ist heutzutage eine Melodie, die ursprünglich von Medelssohn komponiert wurden ist und von dem englischen Musiker William H Cummings adaptiert und dem Text von Hark! The Herald Angel sing! angepasst wurde. Besonders in Amerika ist dieses Lied sehr beliebt.
